How to see salon profit from your Vagaro export

Employee sales and time cards are useful. Profit after wages needs them together.

Vagaro is built for appointments, checkout and staff sales. Reports can show what each provider sold and, separately, hours worked. They do not usually hand you profit after wages by day and by stylist, or revenue per labor hour against your wage floor. Export the sales file you already pull, combine it with paid hours, and that picture appears. Tangled Analytics does this from your Vagaro export. It is an add-on, not a replacement for Vagaro.

What Vagaro reports show (and what they do not)

Vagaro is built for bookings and sales. Its reports are good at showing tickets, staff sales and busy days. They usually do not subtract wages and payroll tax from those sales, and they do not show revenue per labor hour or profit after wages by day and by stylist.

Vagaro Employee Sales and related reports show tickets and provider totals. Time cards show hours. Profit after wages is usually a second step you do outside the booking screen.

That gap is normal. Booking software is not a profit dashboard. The same pattern shows up in GlossGenius, Square, Phorest, etc.: strong sales views, thin profit views.

Sales is not profit after wages

Example numbers
Week view (example)Sales in booking reportPayroll + taxProfit after wages
Monday$1,100$1,250-$150
Thursday$2,800$1,400+$1,400
Saturday$5,400$1,900+$3,500

Made-up salon. The booking report can look fine on Monday while that day loses money after wages.

Owners who only watch ticket totals miss quiet paid hours. Pair sales with revenue per labor hour, payroll percentage and profit margin so one busy Saturday cannot hide a weak midweek.

Export from Vagaro, then see profit

Export the daily or sales summary Tangled expects for whole days. Keep the date range clean so quiet weekdays are not mixed into a vague monthly blob.

  1. Follow the step-by-step export guide: how to export from Vagaro.
  2. Upload that file to Tangled Analytics (or start with the free profit snapshot: no account, no card).
  3. Read profit by day and by stylist, plus RPLH and labor share, from the same export you already pull for bookkeeping.

Tangled is an add-on that sits on top of Vagaro. It does not replace your booking system, calendar or checkout. Keep Vagaro for appointments. Use Tangled when you want the money picture those reports skip.

Export how-tos for other systems live on the export guides hub: GlossGenius, Vagaro, Square, Phorest, etc.

What you can do once you see the picture

Also useful: what is a good RPLH, profit per stylist from GlossGenius or Vagaro, busy but not profitable.

Quick answers

Does Vagaro show salon profit after wages?

Vagaro shows sales by employee and can show hours on time cards. It does not usually show a single profit-after-wages view by day and stylist. Combine the sales export with paid hours and wage cost for that.

How do I see profit from a Vagaro export?

Export your Vagaro sales file for whole days, then add wages and hours. Tangled Analytics reads that export and shows profit by day and stylist, plus RPLH. Use the free profit snapshot at tangleddata.com or the Vagaro export guide on this site.

Is Tangled a Vagaro alternative?

No. Keep Vagaro for bookings and checkout. Tangled is an add-on that turns the export you already download into profit, RPLH and labor share views.

What if I use GlossGenius, Square or Phorest instead?

Same pattern: export sales, then see profit. Guides for GlossGenius, Square, Phorest, etc. are on the Tangled export guides hub.

Tangled Analytics reads the sales export you already have in GlossGenius, Vagaro, Square, Phorest, etc. and shows you, in color, which days, hours and stylists leave profit after wages. Start with the free profit snapshot: send your export, no account and no card, and get one page back showing your profit by day and by stylist.
