How to see salon profit from your Boulevard export
Booking reports show sales. Profit after wages needs a daily summary plus wages.
Boulevard is built for appointments, checkout and salon operations. Its reports show sales and activity. They do not usually show profit after wages by day and stylist, or revenue per labor hour against your wage cost. Tangled Analytics does not claim a native Boulevard parser today. The honest path is the same daily summary CSV used for other systems: total sales per day (and per stylist when you can), upload that file, then read profit and RPLH. Tangled is an add-on, not a Boulevard replacement.
What Boulevard reports show (and what they do not)
Boulevard is built for bookings and sales. Its reports are good at showing tickets, staff sales and busy days. They usually do not subtract wages and payroll tax from those sales, and they do not show revenue per labor hour or profit after wages by day and by stylist.
Boulevard reports cover sales and team activity well. They stop short of lining each day’s sales against paid hours as profit after wages.
That gap is normal. Booking software is not a profit dashboard. The same pattern shows up in GlossGenius, Vagaro, Square, Phorest, etc.: strong sales views, thin profit views.
Sales is not profit after wages
| Week view (example) | Sales in booking report | Payroll + tax | Profit after wages |
| Monday | $1,100 | $1,250 | -$150 |
| Thursday | $2,800 | $1,400 | +$1,400 |
| Saturday | $5,400 | $1,900 | +$3,500 |
Made-up salon. The booking report can look fine on Monday while that day loses money after wages.
Owners who only watch ticket totals miss quiet paid hours. Pair sales with revenue per labor hour, payroll percentage and profit margin.
Daily summary path from Boulevard
Tangled reads a daily summary CSV for Boulevard — not a claimed native parser. Honest steps:
- Export a sales report from Boulevard for whole days (date range that matches the week you care about).
- In a spreadsheet, total sales per day — and per stylist when the export allows — into the exact headers in the FAQ: daily summary format.
- Upload that CSV to Tangled Analytics, or start with the free profit snapshot (no account, no card).
- Read profit by day and by stylist, plus RPLH and labor share, once paid hours and wages are in the tool.
Tangled does not replace Boulevard. Keep Boulevard for appointments and checkout. Use Tangled when you want the money picture those reports skip. Native export how-tos for GlossGenius, Square, Phorest and the Vagaro daily-summary path live on the guides hub.
What you can do once you see the picture
- Cut or shorten days that stay under the wage floor (closing slow days).
- Match paid hours to booked hours (schedule stylists to demand).
- Raise prices where the book is full (how to raise salon prices).
- Follow the profit-first sequence in how to maximize salon profits.
Quick answers
Does Boulevard show salon profit after wages?
Boulevard shows sales and related operational reports. It does not usually show profit after wages by day and stylist, or revenue per labor hour against your wage cost. Use a daily summary CSV plus paid hours and wages for that picture.
How do I see profit from a Boulevard export?
Export a sales report from Boulevard, total it per day (and per stylist if you can) into Tangled’s daily summary CSV format, then upload. Start with the free profit snapshot at tangleddata.com, or follow the FAQ format on this site.
Is Tangled a Boulevard alternative?
No. Keep Boulevard for bookings and checkout. Tangled is an add-on that turns a daily summary of your sales into profit, RPLH and labor share views.
What if I use GlossGenius, Vagaro, Square or Phorest instead?
Same idea: export sales, then see profit. Some systems upload as-is; others use the daily summary path. Guides are on the Tangled export guides hub.
